Three surface families. One standard of finish.

We craft benchtops in natural, silica-free engineered and sintered stone — here's how each family performs, and where it shines.

Family 02 — Silica-free engineered

Crystalline silica-free engineered stone

YDL, Stone Ambassador, Lithostone, Lavistone & AC Stone. Crystalline silica-free engineered surfaces — under 1% crystalline silica, so they're safer to fabricate and fully compliant with Australia's 2024 engineered-stone ban. Engineered for consistent colour and everyday durability, non-porous and no sealing required — a great-value choice for statement kitchen benchtops.

Materials FAQ

Common questions.

Which stone benchtop is best — natural, engineered or sintered?+

It depends how you use the kitchen. Natural stone (granite, marble, quartzite) gives a one-of-a-kind look but needs sealing. Engineered stone offers consistent marble looks with low maintenance. Sintered stone (Dekton, Techlam) is the toughest — heat, UV and scratch resistant, and the only family we'd put outdoors. We'll help you choose.

Do stone benchtops need sealing?+

Natural stone needs periodic sealing to resist stains. Engineered and sintered surfaces are non-porous and don't require sealing — just everyday cleaning with mild soap and water.

Are stone benchtops scratch and heat resistant?+

Sintered stone like Dekton is highly scratch and heat resistant, and you can place hot pans straight on it. Engineered stone resists scratches but you should use a trivet for hot cookware. Always use a board for cutting.

How much do stone benchtops cost in Brisbane?+

Cost depends on the material, slab size, edge profile, thickness and cut-outs. Natural stone and premium sintered surfaces sit at the top end; engineered stone is more accessible. Send us your rough sizes for a clear, itemised quote.

What is the best benchtop for an outdoor kitchen?+

Sintered stone — it's UV-stable so it won't fade in the Queensland sun, and it's unaffected by rain and frost. Ideal for alfresco kitchens and BBQ areas.

What edge profiles do you offer?+

Pencil round, aris, bullnose, half bullnose, lambs tongue, shark nose and mitred, with 40–100mm apron build-ups. We'll show you options to suit your look and budget.

Should I choose 20mm or 40mm?+

20mm suits most modern kitchens and can be mitred to look like a chunky 40mm+ top. 40mm gives a solid, substantial feel. Porcelain also comes in 12mm for splashbacks and slim profiles.
